Week 13 Story: Alice Gets a Drink

A woman in her early twenties walked into the bar with holes in her tights and brown dirty stains on her blue dress. Her blonde hair was tied back in a neat ribbon, but looked like it hadn’t been brushed in several days. Irish Pub, Source “One Mad Hatter on the rocks, please.” The woman climbed onto the tall barstool, her legs dangling off of it. After receiving her drink she played with the straw for a few minutes, not taking a single sip. "Hey kid, you doing alright?" The young bartender approached her with a kind smile on his face. There once was a little Eskimo girl who loved to look at the moon. Every night, she sat by the window and stared up at the moon, admiring her beauty. “If you keep staring at that moon all night you’ll never fall asleep,” her mother said, gently. “But she’s so beautiful! She sparkles every night. If I sleep, I’ll wake up and she’s gone!” “Not tonight, baby.” Her mother picked her up and tucked her in. “Sweet dreams.” Tonight was different. The wind was colder, the air was crisper, and the night was more alive than ever before. As the little girl drifted off to sleep, she was suddenly awoken by a hoot. A large snowy owl sat perched outside her window. The little girl got up to get a closer look, and noticed a saddle and harness on the owls back. BOOM A flash lit up Ellie's bedroom before the thunder echoed throughout the night. Instead of crying like many toddlers would at this sound; Ellie was excited because it was story time. Her mother walked into the room holding The Pretty Pony, the usual book of choice, but something was different tonight. "Can you tell me a different story tonight, not Pretty Pony?" Ellie asked. She carefully tucked her stuffed animals into bed next to her. They were just as ready for a story as she was. "Sure," her mother said, picking up a few other story books off of the floor to inspect. "No! Can you tell me one of YOUR stories, please Mommy? Not from a book. A new story I've never heard before. You make up the BEST stories," Ellie begged, with her saddest pouty face. Once upon a time there was a mother panther who had three lovely cubs. She left them at home one day and told them to be good for she had to go gather food for them. Black Panther ( Source ) As the mother wandered through the forest she ran into a human carrying a large knife and carting some meat that had just been butchered. She was very busy and tried not to chat with the human, but he would not let her pass. "Hello panther, lovely day isn't it? Could I interest you in some fresh beef I've just acquired?" The human spoke loudly and looked friendly enough, but the panther did not trust him. "No thank you sir, I have to return to my cubs soon," but as she tried to walk past him, he stabbed her with his knife and killed her. This man was sneaky, and knew that she had cubs somewhere, so he dressed himself up in the panther's fur pelt like a coat and started walking. The god Thoth, Source Ahura was sitting at home caring for her son, Merab, when her husband Nefer-ka-ptah bust through the door excitedly. Shocked at her beloved’s demeanor, she asked “Why do you look so joyful today? Did you get more pay at work?” “No I didn’t get more pay, but this is going to be even better than money. I just talked to the old priest in the temple, and he told me where to find the Book of Thoth,” he replied. “Nefer-ka-ptah you must be crazy! That book will haunt us all if you even dare look at it. There is no way you are going to find it,” Ahura argued. Nefer-ka-ptah tried to explain to his wife the magic that the Book of Thoth held, but she would not barge. This book held all the secrets of the Heavens, the gods, and Mother Earth herself. If this book was seen by a human, they would soon have more power than the celestial beings. Nefer-ka-ptah was willing to risk anything for this. Week 2 Story: Statues

It was bright, pleasant, and breezy outside as the two decided to start down the trail. They talked about their friends, family, the weather, and about life in general. "I think I'm going to ask him about that big promotion," said Jane. "What's the point? You know he's just going to give it to one of the guys, anyways," said the other woman, Jess. "You may be right, but I have to at least try, just to say I did it," Jane said confidently. They continued walking down the path and looked at street performers, a pond filled with paddle-boats and ducks, and various statues of historical figures.
